The Soloist
Deeper than the ocean
Higher than the sky
Fighting laws of motion
When there was you and I
You’re the force to my inertia
Heartbeats accelerate
Our actions and reactions
Are signed and sealed by fate
Alice couldn’t help but smile at the sound of the man’s voice. She knew that soulful tone for as long as she could remember. How could she not when she calls her ‘dad’?
They are not homeless nor do they live a pitiable life. But her dad has always been a great man. He would rise early in the morning and take out his guitar ensemble out to the center of the town.
“This world could use some music”, he would say.
Looking at the audience gathered around the soloist, she does agree.

I starting singing the poem when I saw it Maria. It has a rhythmical flow to it. The prose at the end turns it into an endearing and heartwarming piece. Thank you 🙂

And thank you too, D. Glad to hear you enjoy the story and the poem. It’d be nice if I could blend a melody to it but I still have a long way to go. 🙂

Lovely story! Your poem would make a beautiful song. It is so sweet that her dad wants to go out on the street to play to bring the world music. Great story!

Just to approach from a different direction, so far the few stories I’ve read imagine a crowd about the guitarist, but in the photo, I only see two other people. That’s what led me to write my wee tale quite differently.
Well done on the lyrics and the narrative.
