Written for Written for RonovanWrites’ haiku prompt #81: Trill & Final
The mighty eagle’s sad trill
Ends the forest’s final song
Nature’s one last cry
On bended knees the earth pleads
To spare it from mankind’s greed
It’s saddening that the world we live in, once full of tall verdant trees, is now filled with towering buildings, all dull and gray. 😦

Awww! Yes, this is such reality, especially when I remember Pamana’s death. 😦
You have written such a simple yet powerful poem, Maria! Bravo!

Yes! That was an unexpected and tragic news for the country indeed. 😦
Thanks, Rosema.

Yes, indeed. It’s just unfair for that lovely bird. I can’t really grasp why humans want to kill eagles, especially Philippine eagle.
You’re welcome, Maria. 🙂

I agree… And it’s more frustrating to think that we will never know if there’s an end to it. 😦

Sadly, I am not sure and I am not optimistic. Humans can actually kills humans, so maybe killing innocent birds isn’t a big deal for some.. (sigh)

I read it in a science magazine that our excessive use of DDT at one time made the eagles egg shell’s so thin that it cracked easily and that was mainly responsible for putting them into endangered category 😦 Hate that. . Lovely poem Maria.

Beautiful haiku, so sad and true. It’s a crime what greedy people are doing to nature. The animals suffer first but then it will be our turn if something is not done. 😦

So true Vashti… whenever they cut those trees in exchange for money, they somehow cut a slice in our life supply. Saddening. 😦
