Scribblings and scrawls of a hopeless romantic soul

One Sigh At A Time

One Sigh At A Time

I loosen my grip
Of your memories
One sigh at a time—

Join the crowd
To unhear the sound
Of your voice
Watch the city lights
To unsee the colors
Of your eyes

One sigh at a time
One step forward
To being free

  2. To unhear the sound of a voice and unsee the color of a person’s eyes, I wonder how long this takes. Lovely poem.

  6. This was a wonderful piece! Loved the “one sigh at a time”. It takes a lot of them, doesn’t it? This is what I tried to capture in my “Letting Go Is Hard” too.

  8. each breath takes you further away and farther afield – lovely soft stepping through this poem

  9. I love the pace of this poem. Reading it slows you down. Your words show there is so much to be found in a sigh Maria.

  10. join the crowd to unhear, unsee… nice

  11. A very moving write Maria and I hope that with every sigh you will be able to reclaim another lost part of yourself 💜

  12. ‘One sigh at a time’ speaks well to sadness and moving on

  13. “Join the crowd
    To unheard the sound”
^Is there a slight typo here? Did you mean to unhear?

Your poetry, as always, is soothing and poignant, dear Maria ❤

  15. I especially like the first stanza. Nice poem about the difficulty of letting go and the freedom that eventually comes.
