It’s Saturday date-night. My boyfriend, Bran, is staring with intensity as if the rest of the world has gone silent—as if it’s just him and the TV.
Yes. The TV.
Not at my golden curls or my beautiful silk dress. Nor at the makeup that I so gracefully wear. He didn’t even bother to breathe my scent! Bryan was whole-heartedly, all-eyes on ESPN’s coverage of the Lions VS Calgary game.
My head hurts from watching the endless throwing, running, passing, and tackling yet I don’t understand a thing.
Oh, for sure, my boyfriend loves me… but just not tonight.

Friday Fictioneers is a weekly writing challenge hosted by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields where a photo is used as a prompt for a hundred-word piece of fiction. The photo prompt this week is a courtesy of C.E. Ayr. Thank you!
P.S. I know nothing about football except “touchdown” and David Beckham (but as pointed out by the lovely Dajena, Beckham plays soccer not football). Haha! See how bad I am at this game? XD Are most guys like Bran?

Oh dear! You’d be better off wearing a football jersey and helmet to get his attention, then makeup and a pretty scent! hee hee Fun story!! 🙂

Hahaha! Thanks! That’s a great idea, Deb! Surely with a football jersey and helmet, Bran would finally notice. XD

Hahaha! See I know nothing about this game? A bunch of thanks for pointing that out, Dajena. ^^
That’s another humor to add to this post. XD

To be fair, in other parts of the world, where American football isn’t so popular, soccer is called football. So it’s easy to get confused.

Great take, dear! Nice and unique take! 😀
P.S.
Boyfie is like that when he is playing games (mobile). And mostly that creates World War 3

Fortunately, not all guys are like that. But, oh, the STORIES I hear! My dad watches CNBC like other guys watch ESPN. He’s a financial man. Maybe the character would get more satisfaction from a guy like that. At least, she’d be well-off eventually, if he plays his cards right. Then again, if he doesn’t, maybe sports WOULD be safer.
Kind of sad, but a sweet story, Maria! 🙂

That’s a great way to put it, Kent! Haha. But I have to say, to a woman in her twenties or early thirties perhaps, a man who take the time to appreciate all those grooming effort and remember a date night would be charming. Then again, a financial man who plays the cards right is a also a great catch. Lol.

I don’t even bother getting upset by the fixation to a football match.
I picked a team and delved right in.

Haha. I know this feeling. I like watching football (happy to know your Canadian and watching the CFL) but I don’t zone out like guys do. My Dad, guy friends, past boyfriend, as soon as the game comes on doesn’t matter what a girl looks like, you are unnoticeable. Who’s your fav CFL team?

You suddenly became a soundless ghost to them? Hahaha. How did you take it, Mandi? Well, I really have no idea about football (I’m more of a basketball fanatic). I only read updates in the news, sometimes. Sadly, I haven’t watched enough to have a favorite team yet. Hmm.. I should start watching them, I guess. 🙂

Well when it keeps happening you just sort of shrug and talk with the other girls you bring to talk with unless a your guy nudges you to say some football stat. You nod and he goes back to watching the game and you try to pay attention and if not get another drink lol.
