I used to fear roller coaster rides—
That feeling when you’re
at the bottom of a rollercoaster
slowly ascending through the unforgiving rails
climbing to the highest peak
and your stomach flips
even before you accelerate
into nothing but a blur
I begged it to stop
but it never did
So I hated it.
But that was all before I met love.
You see, love is my kind of roller coaster ride—
Taking me up to the highest high
and down to the lowest low
swapping back and forth
making me gasp for air
scream my heart out
my stomach flips
but it’s never a blur
I begged it not to stop
and it never did
I hated it no more.

In response to dVerse’s Tuesday Poetics: What are you afraid of?
I used to fear roller coasters. Well, I guess I still do. BUT it’s the kind of fear that makes me want to try it again and again. Not sure when it started but it eventually became my favorite ride. ❤
Tending the bar for Poet’s Pub today is Mish with her chamomile tea for the jittery hearts. Check out her poignant piece, Departure. 😉

I like the description of the roller coaster to love, but I am afraid of the roller coaster never ending heights and spins.

Thank you, Grace. I figured a lot of us cringe to the roller coaster’s heights and spins. But it’s really a great rush at the end. 🙂

I haven’t been on a roller coaster in many years but I wasn’t afraid of them. The newer ones might be a different story. Hahaha!

Hahaha! I guess. The new ones got more twists and turns. I’ve tried one where my feet were dangling in the air. XD
