Moonflower

A curled moonflower
Awaits the silent night
Unrolling the light
She long kept inside
Madness laced with beauty
Art dripping from her mouth
The night is her solace
The dark quell her doubts
And light shines from her eyes,
The moon and stars above

Drunken Stupor

absolut-bampw-black-and-white-bottle-favim-com-2325036

carrying the throes that life throws
and the weight of the wait
i long for you and my world whirled
as I whine at my wine again
a maid made of sin from sole to soul
i had no alibi
forgive me, too, if there were two
in my heart there’s only you

5 seconds

5 seconds

your stare is but a chasm
drawing me to the depths
i dread those five seconds
i am miserable at best
if i stifle a smile
or blink away your gaze
it’s a way of remembering
that you weren’t mine but hers
so, baby, please steer clear
for this heart of mine is frail
don’t lend me five seconds
if you can’t hand me forever

Filth

Filth

Let’s plunge into a hive
Where honeybees nests
Kiss my lips until they bleed
Trace this body with those fingers—
Every convex, every depth
Deconstruct my being
Lift my flair until I am nothing
But a sullied wraith;
A keepsake of a night’s spark.

An Inch Closer

empty-girl-lonely-sad-favim-com-2772761

An Inch Closer

no this isn’t
about forever
I’m not talking
about love
or promises
nor tomorrow
what I’m saying is
the night is young
you’re alone
and so am i
the wind is howling
and the moon
oh yes, the moon
is ever so glorious
so maybe—
just maybe
we could pull
each other
an inch closer.

Archangel’s Last Fight

His body slowly crumbled as if he was devastation itself. Peering through the blur, he saw the snares of evil vanished into the pits of hell.

In response to Shapeshifting 13 #74 KICKOFF: GHOUL FESTIVAL!

During Ghoul Festival, you will be provided a picture prompt and an audio prompt. The prompts should create an atmosphere for you that (we hope) will elicit some amazingly creative writing that is incredibly diverse. Let the image and the audio guide you through your imagination.

Visual Prompt: “Nike” by Cordray Parker (Located in the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, Birmingham, Alabama)

Audio Prompt: Beethoven – Moonlight Sonata

P.S. The 26-word limit is a tricky task and does not equate with Beethoven’s deep, dark and ferocious sonata. Phew! That was quite a cavernous chasm I was in!

Ghosts and Landmines

I tiptoed on cobbled streets
Afraid that I may set off landmines
Where your memories hide
For I fear the explosion of nostalgia
Right before my eyes
So I treaded the long roads
With a watchful heart
Praying that I won’t get to see
Ghosts of the past

Pandemonium

memories__poems__wounds__dead_flowers_by_annao_photography-d94lf69

Pandemonium

Inside this body is a storm
a heavy downpour of doubt
strong gusts of fear
and my rage
is a lightning proclaimed
by a silent scream—
thunder

News reports a sunny weather
But beneath this skin is a bedlam.

Tending the bar for Poets Pub today is Gayle with her piece, Linger. A lovely poem teeming with hope (in contrast to mine), I should say. Please do check it and be inspired. 🙂

Reckless Prey

3264880004-devushka-v-pautine

Reckless Prey
A Goethe Stanza

You are but a felon with might

Whirling castles; spinning web of lies
Waiting for a victim, ensnaring to plight

Leaving broken hearts and foolish cries

~

And I am but a reckless prey

Lost and barren and severed wings
Trapped in a mesh, unable to flee

Caught by a spider best at pulling strings
