Lines and Rhymes
A Limerick

At night she gathers the broken pieces
And bit by bit, amass what she losses
In a poetry she writes
Her battles and fights
In lines and rhymes, she scribbles her choices

Another shot at catching up with my favorite poetry prompts. Here’s to everyone who turns to poetry in times of ups and downs. ❤ ❤ ❤

Some Nights

On some days, not all lights lead you on course

On some nights, not all darks hails a foul force

Some lights are made to mislead

Lead you astray just to bleed

While dark nights hint a home free of remorse

Here’s to finding peace and tranquility in the night after a day of stumbling down and scrapping knees. 🙂

Lost

She sought to find the answers to her doubts

Scrapping her knees from numerous fallouts

But the road led her astray

Love moves in mysterious ways

No one to wipe the tears and hear her shouts

Beam of Hope

In the loneliest valleys, hope could hide

Ebbing until you have resigned and cried

Just when you’re about to quit

A beam of light, hope permits

Leading your way out, guiding side by side

Dreams of You

The night felt awfully gloomy and blue

I chased it away with mem’ries of you

With you by my side

My arms open wide

I plunged into a blissful dream so true

Here’s to everyone feeling gloomy and blue. Smiles! I’m thinking of you. 🙂

Succumb

Stand up, be strong; hold it all together

You’re not alone, no matter the weather

When your fears are frightening

When you’re weary of fighting

Lay it all down; succumb to His power

Here’s to never giving up… Have a blessed day everyone!

Miracles

Written for Mind and Life Matters’ Limerick Challenge Week 6: Birth

Painting by Josephine Wall

The world’s teeming with endless miracle

Of infinite wonder and spectacle

Of a new start; break of dawn

Of love and life to breathe on

A world so vast, boundless, and mystical.

I’ve always believed that the a brand new day and another chance at love & life are some of life’s everyday miracle. So let’s all seize each day and take each chance with a smile. 😀

Baby’s breath

Written for Mind and Life Matters’ Limerick Challenge Week 7: Aspire

Headlines are filled with war, tension, and death

Humanity blurred with pride, greed, and meth

She yearned for peace to settle

Save life’s remaining petal

Hear the children laugh; smell a baby’s breath

I read a terrifying and saddening news in Rappler about some extremist groups here in the Philippines pledging allegiance to ISIS. While we are stuck amidst the height of political feud, religious bigotries, health issues, and extreme poverty, some of our little brothers and sisters in Mindanao are either breathing with fear or trained to fight a war they have not started. Gone are their laughter; gone are their smiles. What ever happened to “The Children of Tomorrow”? 😦

Gypsy Heart

Written for Mind and Life Matters’ Limerick Challenge Week 6: Feral

She sauntered with a heart of a gypsy

All cloaked in music, art, and poetry

She is untamed, wild, and fierce

Braving her demons and fears

With a jar of fervor and meraki

I’m starting this week with a beautiful quote from the Boy’s Life by Robert McCammon. A story about youth, innocence, dreams, and magic that I would really love to read. Every word from this quote is heartwarming that resonates truth to me. Have a great week, everyone. 🙂 🙂 🙂

P.S “Meraki” is a new found word which

…may be quite close to “ardor,” but is exclusively used when referring to one’s own creations. For example, when making a piece of furniture or cooking a dish, and really loving what you do, putting all your effort and creativity into it, you can be said to be doing it with “meraki”.
