A to Z Challenge

Rain, Rain

rainrain-small

Rain, Rain

The forest is still, not a single bird chirping
And the summer sky is a cumulous of rage
I am drenched in the stillness of remembering
Of what I have lost, of what I still have
But in the midst of the surrounding clamor
The pitter patter and the wind’s howl
My heart remains still— unperturbed, relaxed
Like the eye of a tornado devoid of wrath

Quest

i_see_through_you_by_reylia-d7bg2wm

Quest

Sunrays breaking through
The drips and drops
In the midst of puddles—
A skip and a hop
Confronting life’s quest
With half a smile
I see through your deep breaths
And untold sighs

Past Lifetimes

past_lifetimes_by_reylia-d7a00u3

Past Lifetimes

There it was again
That old, familiar feeling
Like a déjà vu—
Detailed dreams of us
From different times
And places

That old, familiar feeling
Of being drawn into
Your gaze and smile

An old sensation
Of swimming
In a history of us
From which I do not drown

It felt like a
A once upon a time
Taken apart
And put back together
Again and again

On Persistent Winters

persistent_winters_by_reylia-d7dj8lg

On Persistent Winters

The snow kisses the trees and fields
And wrap them with a white quilt
But little did the snowflakes know
I have found my summer in you

On persistent winters I am snug with love
Slithering my way to feel your warmth
My winter love, oh how I pray
For time to freeze this very day

In response to dVerse’s Poetics: Wish you were here… hosted by the lovely De.

If only I could taste the winter with that somebody, I’d probably write this on a post-it note over a breakfast in bed. But, unfortunately, this will have to wait. Haha! A big “AYE, AYE” to De for saying that April is the wildest poetry month.

Also, still two letters behind, here’s a late entry written for A to Z Challenge: Letter O.

Not Letting Go

notlettinggo-1024x1024

Not Letting Go

Not letting go is the deep sigh on a busy afternoon
When memories poke at your mundane routine
It is throwing a boomerang thousand miles away
Waiting for it to spin right back to you
It is taking a table for two on a solitary night
Sitting face to face with resignation
It is wrapping yourself with those thin arms
Bracing yourself for the cold

My Name Means Gold

my_name_means_gold_by_reylia-d7stwf5

My Name Means Gold

I am my own smith
And life is my crucible
The longer I set myself on fire
The more I am purified
Unmined— my heart rests
Hidden beneath the inferno
Needing no affirmation
That my name means gold

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter.  I’m sorry I haven’t been able to reply to all of your comments, it’s been a busy week. And oh, I’m on a RED ALERT! I have ran out of scheduled posts for the A to Z. Gaaaa! So here I am, dragging my lazy butt (and muse), trying to catch up. -.-

Love Blinded Us

love_blinded_us_by_reylia-d78yagz

Love Blinded Us

love blinded us
like the sun shining on midday
and our eyes squint—
trying to make out the outline
and succumbing to the heat

love blinded us
like the headlights of a car
coming right at us in full speed,
too late to avoid the crash
so we face it head on

Knights Are Myths

the_captain_s_daughter_by_reylia-d6xavl8

Knights Are Myths

My father once told me,
Do not believe in knights
They don’t ride warhorses
Or fight battles for their lords
Some wore fancy armors
Only to be struck down
By temptation’s arbalest
Some will play you like chess
Saying one step forward
Walking two steps back

Instead, he told me to fall for
A man with the taste of the sea
Someone who knows
The dangers of the ocean
And the gusts of the wind
Someone who, despite
The beauty of the deep,
Will find a shore to return to
Someone who knows the pain
Of a wound drenched in salt

Judge Me Not

come_clean_by_reylia-d6qetzr

Judge Me Not

come clean, wash my dirt off
take away my years of mistake
if you’re faultless, come bathe me
rinse away the stains of my past
otherwise, steer clear—
do not try to label who I am
for you can only cast the stone
if your soul’s unflawed and sound
