earth—
ripe of evolutionary changes
a come and go
of fire and ice
death and life
species emerging
taking places of those lost:
arthropods
dinosaurs
humans—
killing the land
killing its own
are we heading towards another extinction?
or is this some faulty evolution?

I love how you’ve established the changeability of earth in the phrase ‘ripe of evolutionary changes’ and continued with the
‘…come and go
of fire and ice
death and life’
and the busyness of the emerging species. So much activity and then: humans arrive and kill the land as well as each other.
hat’s a good question: ‘is this some faulty evolution?’

Thank you, Kim! It’s a question that has been bugging me for a long time. Especially after reading the daily headlines.

Love the evolution of the earth penned, the arriving and departing of species and the perilous human who may just end it all…love the question at the end…’or is this just another evolution’ lovely poem.

Maria! It’s been a while, but I see your writing is still as awesome as ever. Fantastic piece. I love your phrasing and how the piece challenges the reader to wonder about where we’re heading as a species. Love it. ❤

Likewise, I haven’t been this active in a minute but when I came back I wanted to see what my old friends were up too. Your writing is still as great as ever. It’s been great seeing where your new stuff is going.

I always wonder how much longer we will be allowed to live here.

^Now those are some thought-provoking questions, Maria, and reading all the current events nowadays, I think many of us are asking those questions too. Great piece!
