Breaking Free
I will let no ill words permeate
This heart. No more vacant
Eyes from a soul left abashed.
I will tear the walls that caged
Me for years. No more waning
Hope and sagging will. Sharpen
Your knives, throw them at me
Like a bird of prey, today I will
Seize. You can call me a sinner—
Cast the stones but I will never
Conform and worship deceit.

I think I have developed a habit of merging MLMM’s Wordle and Sunday Prompt. 🙂 I would especially like to thank Pat for providing a lot of interesting and intriguing storyboards. Now that you’ve used this reference, I feel the urge to read Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray again. ❤

thanks for playing the Sunday writing prompt and the wordle too Maria 🙂
Most excellent piece this. As others have noted – it’s powerful – with bite – or perhaps – talons – and it leaves a lasting impression – it is defiant and speaks of power, the struggle to overcome and then “seize” – great placement in the poem by the way – and soar above. A rallying cry of the spirit and heart – and a mind determined!
hope you have a wonderful week 🙂

Your poetic writing is a call to a defiance of truth and hard hitting reality of such a world he consume ourselves in.
These lines blow me away in hit me in the gut:
You can call me a sinner—
Cast the stones but I will never
Conform and worship deceit.
Exactly right. Never conform to which you and only you have control of your life. How dare people judge and call us sinners.
You are you my friend. Love this. 🙂
