River Flows in Me
I dipped my feet in the river
Where our love was baptized
Felt the rush of the water
I was left hypnotized
What could have gone wrong?
What could have we done?
When all we have was one love
Under the shining sun
Was all the fight not worth it?
Where was the love we breathed?
Have let go of our fate?
And succumbed to hate?
I thought our love was endless
Like the river to the sea
But while streams thread the mountains
A river flows in me…

In response to dVerse’s Poetics: The River hosted by our guest, Paul Dear.
At first I was thinking of writing about my recent trip for today’s prompt but a single speck of dust that goes by the name of Gina has already wrote what my heart would want to say. Please shower her some love and read her piece, The River. 🙂
Meanwhile, this piece is inspired by one of my favorite music from Yiruma entitled, River Flows in You. This song, though only played without words, begins and ends with so much emotion in every key. Have a lovely evening! ❤
Head over here to join the fun:

this is a beautiful love song, a real cry from the heart, I feel the sadness and also joy at having loved although lost along the way. But love is starnge it can get hurt but nurtured back again, it needs to be shown how. I adored your lines. Thank you so much for linking my post and mentioning my name! such an honour to have a tiny space here. I am so touched!

Thank you so much for the insightful comment, Gina. And I completely agree. It is better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all, so they say. And you’re most welcome, your poem deserves to be read by everyone.

A heartfelt poem. Your use of rhetorical questions both draws us in and gives us intensity. Well done, dear Poetess.

Oh how sad the river inside sounds…but as with all rivers it is on a journey to someplace where there is freedom and expansion. Thanks for your River contribution.

I like the idea of endless love like the river flows to the sea. There may be turns, pools and rapids along the way.

So many questions, like true love Maria. One minute the calm, the next a raging torrent. A beautiful poem.

Was all the fight not worth it?
Where was the love we breathed?
The common questions tinged with regret following a disagreement. It could have started with something very small!
