At her kiss, something ached inside the tattered corners of his heart. His knees weakened with the weight of memories that started to unfurl but before he could say a word, she was gone. Her absence pierced down to the marrow of his bones; silence never sounded so loud. He sat, side by side, with the memories of whispers turning to shouting and shouting turning to tears. Since when had this safe haven become a battlefield? Hands stretched, he reached out to something… reached out to love.
