I tiptoed on cobbled streets
Afraid that I may set off landmines
Where your memories hide
For I fear the explosion of nostalgia
Right before my eyes
So I treaded the long roads
With a watchful heart
Praying that I won’t get to see
Ghosts of the past

Aw man, I know this feeling. Except they’re flashbacks. 😞

Great poem Maria. It is sad how the ghosts of our past can take us down long painful roads. Thank you for posting these wonderful words.

And thank you for your kind words, D. The thought of being haunted by the living is equally dreadful to being haunted by the dead.

Beautiful imagery. Landmines and the ghosts of the past, these are my favorite here.
Well done!

Thank you so much.
Japan time, is at 19 days am9.
Every day, home garden has screamed in the intense heat of 35 ~ 37 ℃.
Buddhist memorial service of the father of 49 days was also the end.
Best regards in the future.
I wish you good luck.

Hello Maria! The first three lines captured me,
‘I tiptoed on cobbled streets
Afraid that I may set off landmines
Where your memories hide’
Very touching. I can relate to your poem. Beautiful!
