DA-DU-DUM-DUM

Blame not the golden rays
That cloaked you in the morning light
Nor the blackbird’s hymn
In the crack of dawn
Blame not your tousled hair
And those sleepy eyes
As you wake, dreamy and languid
To the sun that shone
Blame not the cold, crisp air
Swaying the verdant greens
Nor the bittersweet aroma
Of a coffee next door
Blame not those lazy smiles
And your cheery voice
Calling out my name
To me, a melodic tune
My heart pounds like a drumbeat
Thumping a DA-DU-DUM-DUM
Tamed and enchanted—
I blame it all on you.
