Tears at Dawn
An Aubade
Mahal, ikaw ay nasaan?
Sa gitna ng gabi ako ay iniwan
Sa malupit na dilim, nagsusumamo
Na sana maibalik ang ‘ikaw at ako’
Ngunit mga luha ay hindi mo nilingon
Pag-ibig mo ba’y nalimot ng kahapon?
Dinggin ang pusong nagmamakaawa
Sana ay balikan sa dapit-umaga
~English Translation~
Where are you, my love?
In the middle of the night you left
In the cruel darkness I pleaded
To bring back ‘you and I’
Yet you failed to see my tears
Was love forgotten in yesteryear?
Hear this begging heart of mine
Please, come back to me at dawn

Definitely pleading begging, apparent in your words. She begging in tears for her lover’s return. Emotional and heartfelt. Great job.

Thank you, Mandi! Things about pleading, begging, and waiting are probably both the easiest and hardest ones to write for me. They carry too much weight, no?

Yes I very much agree. Lowering yourself, becoming humble, it can be difficult; hurts our self image pride. Sometimes necessary, sometimes painful too. You’re a wise lady Maria and what you write is wonderful.

In the myth, Cupid visits Psyche at night and then leaves at dawn. Here the plea is for the lover to return at dawn. That’s healthy, since the two would then have the day as well. I feel the plea and hope there is a just response.

Oh, thank you for sharing the myth about Psyche and Cupid. I’ve been doing some reading about gods and goddesses but I haven’t got the chance to read through these two lovebirds. Thank you, Christopher. I hope she’ll have a just response well. 😊
