The Drifter

She was not meant to stay
And she never will.

She touches lives
Leaves lasting footprints
And even dances ‘round a fire
But she will always find herself
Wondering and wandering
Drifting through an endless sea of charade
Her valiant soul battles the fog
Hoping for one day to catch
In the shallow waters of deceit
The tiniest bit of unsuppressed
Unguarded words
A real laugh; a wide smile
A voice that speaks of passion—
A spark in the eyes

So until then,
Never plead her to stay
Because she never will.
