Nature’s Cry
A Free Verse
Nature cries
Of crimson red tears
She grieves for abuse
She weeps for neglect
Of misery,
She gravely fears
The end is near
For this game of greed
A tug-of-war between her and us—
Whoever turns first into dust

Thanks! I feel the same way whenever I hear news about mining or oil spill gone wrong. Such terrible thing to abuse mother nature. *sigh*

I couldn’t agree more. Sometimes, I wish we could just move to Mars and start anew.

This is the ultimate reality which we the human beings are ignoring. The choice of words like abuse, neglect and misery beautifully depicts the message in the poem.
Very well written!

I couldn’t agree more, Madeeha. We have gone too far abusing what’s lefy of nature has to offer. 😦 Thanks for the kind words.

Gut wrenching. Such powerful imagery. I wish I could write poetry. I love reading it. It speaks to me in a way that no other words do. The forceful abuse just shouts to be heard. I felt each word. I just dropped by because I will be driving all day tomorrow and I probably won’t be able to visit you when you post your letter A for the A to Z challenge. Just the luck of the calendar, but my kids spring break ends tomorrow and we will be driving home ALL day and into the night. I wanted to stop by today since I will miss you tomorrow. I will be back on Saturday, and catch up on letters A and B. Also, because I’m on blogger/blogspot platform I know most WP bloggers don’t really like to visit so last year I created a WP blog just for the challenge … just so I could comment. I think I created more chaos for myself. Now I’m inundated with emails instructing me to create a “Better About Me Page.” I don’t have an “About Me Page.” I don’t even really have a WP blog. I just did that for the commenting thing. I goofed. My mistake. Anyway, I’m number 243 on the theme reveal list, but it keeps changing so here is the link to my theme reveal. I’d love for you to visit if you have some time this month.

That last line “whoever turns first into dust” is chilling. Your poem expresses the harsh reality nowadays. I only hope we start working with nature rather than against it soon, or else we’ll all be dust, I’m sure.

That’s for sure whether or not we do our part. But if we don’t realize this sooner, we’ll be pushing the fast-forward button. No good at all. *sigh*
Thank you, Jade! And I’m happy to see you back. 😀

Agreed. I think the fast-forward button has already been pushed and we’re all pretty much spiraling to dust, unless you press the pause button and figure out how to rewind what we’ve done.

Very well said, Jade… we’re all pretty much spiraling to dust indeed and I’m not sure rewind is still an option. *sigh*

The blood red water is pretty awful, “nature cries / of crimson red tears.” I think us against nature there is no win. We cooperate and take care of her, nurture her, or we face the consequences — utter desolation.

“Utter desolation”~ these are the words I’ve been looking for. So true, Mandi. We couldn’t win against nature. We just have to do our part and pray to be spared from its wrath.

Yes, you are very right. I’m grateful where I live, the winters are bad sometimes, but we are far away enough from the ocean, so no typhoons or hurricanes, and whatever volcanoes we have are mostly buried and dormant in the Rocky Mountains. We have had tornadoes and small earth quakes but nothing for a long time. But I don’t know how people can live with the threat of all those things or even one year after year knowing there will be many storms, not to mention bad people in this world too….

That’s good to know, Mandi. That you are in a safer part of the world with less trouble caused by natural disasters. Here in PH, our main threat would be strong typhoons for we are prone to them. But I’ve always believed we’re in a better place than those in the midst of chaos and war.

Yes, you are safer for sure. I think the Middle East — Syria, Iraq, Iran, Turkey, have always been places that are very dangerous (going back to the OT in the Bible even!)

In a world of 7 billion people, everyone needs to care. This poem sums up our current struggle very well. Nice job!

Your candid poem reflects the senseless abuse that humans heap on Mother Nature. At times sheds silent tears of blood and at times unleashes her fury. We have to stop this as we have only one planet to live on.
