It was one of those morning strolls where the gentle sky spread over the horizon and a solitary cloud hung overhead. Alexa came to a crosswalk, where she stopped to let a car turn. Conversely, the man driving the car pulled up and rolled his passenger side window down. “You need a ride?” he warmly asked.
At first she didn’t say anything, she just looked at him—his car; her eyes ran down the length of his peculiar vehicle and back to this man’s eyes. For a moment, she thought, why on earth would a sinfully gorgeous man be driving a piece of odd-looking, spray-painted sixties tin with a bed of flowers on its roof?! “No, thank you,” she kindly refused, but shoot him a look that meant, NO WAY MISTER! I’M NOT RIDING YOUR HIPPIE CAR.
“Suit yourself,” he said and winked.
Then, as if fate begged to disagree, droplets of rain started to pour from the puffy cloud that now started to sprawl. “Seriously?!” she yelled and came running after the car which slowed to a halt, “Sorry, I think I need a ride.”

I like that the story can be expanded in so many directions, he could be a killer though with that car he would be identified easily or it could be a romantic story or so many other stories.

Oh wow Chioma… I certainly didn’t think of him as a killer but, yes, this one offers quite a few possibilities! Though, I’d prefer a love story.
Thanks for taking the time to read and to drop your comment. 🙂 🙂

Rain has a tendency to chase you in all kinds of places…even spray painted cars with flowers on top. I can picture her running up to the car with thoughts of staying dry, but no thoughts of staying away from a hippie car. 🙂

Haha. It’s either a ride on that hippie car or a dance under the pouring rain. Thanks for dropping by, Jessie! 🙂

Great story! I certainly hope that the man in the car’s someone who can be trusted, but I suppose the rain left Alexa little choice.

It was short and it’s great! I love short stories, more than long tales. 😀

LOL! At first she was too good to ride in that car but finally chose it rather than being rained on. These days, a woman doesn’t accept a ride from a stranger – much too dangerous! Great story Maria!

Too dangerous, even if the man driving is sinfully gorgeous. 😀 But I guess rainy days are an exemption. Thanks PJ!
