Saturday dawned with blue skies and the morning sunlight pierced through the curtains as Cheska awakened to the bluebird’s hymn.
Inhaling the faint smell of crumpets and bacon as she opened the bedroom door, she came running down the stairs, straight to the kitchen where she found her mom busying the cutleries. How she loved weekends and waking up to this kind of sight.
“Time for breakfast honey, go get grandma– the usual.” her mom said smiling and then she knew just where to find her.
Amidst the verdant lawn and garden blooms, a petite woman stood with her easel up and right hand gripping to a paintbrush. That’s her grandma Allie, still looking glorious in her graying hair, dawdling and unperturbed, completely engrossed in her own world. She couldn’t help but smile.
“Good morning grandma!” Cheska’s voice broke through her rapt.
Allie turned, blinking as she tore her gaze from her work of art, and smiled. “Cheska, dear, come and tell me what you think.”
“It’s beautiful grandma, as always.”
“Lovely as you are, child.”

That’s very kind of you Madeeha. Thank you very much. I have to admit this one comes from the inner child in me. It reminds me of my grandma whom I missed a lot.
Enjoy your day. 🙂

Indeed a lovely morning when one can breakfast with mother and grandmother. Such a peaceful scene you’ve created. I particularly like the acceptance between the thee women and their love for each other. I wanted to be in that garden and to be the grand daughter.

What a lovely scene of happy family life. The love between the characters just oozes from the page, as does Cheska’s joy at the beautiful new day. Some lovely descriptions, Maria. 🙂
